The Olivia Bloomfield Foundation Welcome Garden opened in November! Several of Olivia’s friends and classmates had the opportunity to share stories and also experience the space. The park is truly beautiful and we know that Olivia would be very proud of a space that people of all abilities can share together. As part of the groundbreaking, we also announced our intent to fund phase two in 2024. This will include additional sensory elements and a memorial tree that will honor all children that have passed away that were part of the Britain Development Center.

Through Olivia’s Big Splash, the Ireland family received a new accessible bath as well as additional home modifications to make their space fully accessible to their daughter Lottie who uses a wheelchair. OBF funded home improvements including: widening all doorways in the house, hardwood floors throughout, accessible bath equipment to allow for safe bathing and play, and a concrete ramp for easy access in and out of the house. In 2024, we are honored to share that the second recipient has been selected and renovations will begin after the first of the year. It is our goal to continue to expand this program to offer more families of need an opportunity for inclusion in their homes.

In 2024, OBF has committed to funding two adult sized changing tables at Kansas City Current’s new CPKC Stadium. These changing tables will be located within two separate accessible restrooms suited for families. This will allow for people of all abilities to enjoy this new facility with comfort and dignity. Stay tuned for more exciting updates on our partnership with KC Current!

At Corinth Elementary School, we are proud to have two inclusive initiatives underway. First, two accessible lunch tables have been purchased for the school to allow kids of all abilities the opportunity to share a meal together. Next, we will be making some improvements to the playground space. A few new pieces of equipment will be added that will help to facilitate communication and play for all kids.

Through partnerships with Variety KC and Britain Development, the foundation was honored to donate four pieces of equipment to kids in need. This included a new wheelchair, an adaptive bike, and two communication devices.

In 2024, we will continue to work to grow the foundation and remain committed to using funds without overhead in order to maximize each and every dollar.
